Did you know we have a customized way of thinking? In a sense, we become our own “brand” by the way we think. That’s why you can have 10 people with 10 different perspectives on the same subject. As we think and process information, we create our own customized exclusive reality. Dr. Caroline Leaf calls this unique way of thinking our “gift profile”. The gift profile describes how we are individually created to do what only we can do.

Quantum physicists refer to our customized thinking as our exclusive quantum state. Like a symphony orchestra, every structure in our brain has a unique role to play to make the music of our thoughts heard. There is an infinite combination of possibilities that can produce a sound that is unique each time it is played and heard. In essence, our customized way of thinking describes how we filter information which leads to our perspective. Your customized mode of thinking can never be replicated or repeated because each experience you have had cannot be repeated. Reliving old memories or experiences adds a new layer of experience. Your experience has already changed your thinking.
In addition to the two hemispheres (right and left), four lobes (frontal, parietal, occipital and temporal), and other numerous structures of the brain, there is an additional theorized arrangement of the seven modules of thinking (processing of thoughts). These 7 modules are based on the mind-in-action, how the brain responds to thought. For instance, the front of the brain responds to interpersonal thinking and the back of the brain responds to visual/spatial thinking. Dr. Leaf reports that we have seven modules of thinking. The 7 modules stretch from the front of the brain to the back of the brain, and from the top of the brain to the bottom of the brain. From front to back, the modules are:
1) intrapersonal (introspective & reflective
2) interpersonal (interaction)
3) linguistic (words)
4) logical/mathematical (rational)
5) kinesthetic (senses)
6) musical (intuition)
7) visual/spatial (imagination).
How do we measure our customized way of thinking?
Brain imaging can not be used to measure our customized way of thinking because they measure the “result” of a general thinking pattern such as reading or drawing. They do not show “real time” customized thinking. Dr. Leaf report our real-time thinking is super fast (around 10 to the 27th operations per second)! So, how do we capture our unique gift profile?
Dr. Leaf’s Gift Profile uses broad and open-ended questions to help us get a feel for our customized way of thinking. The scoring of our thinking helps us to understand our unique digestive pattern of thinking, how a thought goes through the seven modules. The scoring is not meant to label us or lock us into thinking that we “do this because of that”. It’s simply a way to better understand ourselves. Remember that since our brain is re-wiring pathways all the time therefore it’s important to walk through the gift profile regularly to see if there are changes in the way we think and digest information.
What are the benefits to understanding our unique way of processing information?
When we are thinking from our customized perspective, from a love mindset, our brain kicks into high gear and operates like a fine-tuned car. We are operating in our PERFECT self!
When we think properly, in our customized way, we are better able to generate new knowledge and categorize facts in a speedy manner, not allowing our feelings to get the better of us.
